Resident Programs

For a number of years, LeadingAge Oregon has sponsored a variety of programs to engage members' residents in creative activities and foster a closer relationship between the state organization and residents. This relationship works to enhance the lives of residents, and generate positive publicity for members. Programs include:

The Creative Writing Program - February 21, 2019

The annual Creative Writing contest began in 1993. Member residents submit short stories and poems that are read and scored in each category by judges who are published writers and poets. The top 40-50 entries are published annually in a publication entitled “Reflections: A Collection of Writing and Poetry by Oregon’s Elders.” This years winners will be honored at a Celebration Dessert at Westmoreland's Union Manor in Portland and excerpts of the winning entries will be read by the writer or another chosen reader.

Ageless Art Contest & Exhibit - August 15, 2019

2019 LeadingAge Oregon Celebrates Ageless Art
The Ageless Art contest began in 1986 with the first annual calendar published for the year 1987. The art competition and exhibit, held annually, celebrates the artistic talents of those over 60 years of age.  Through a professionally judged contest, the top 40-50 pieces of art are selected and featured in the annual Virtual Ageless Art Exhibit. In the past, the exhibit has been at the Oregon State Capital, Portland Art Museum, Willamette View in Portland and Holy Names Heritage Center in Lake Oswego.

This year the Ageless Art judging and announcement luncheon will be held at Rose Villa Senior Living, Portland, OR. In 2017 the Ageless Art Exhibit went digital so all our communities could celebrate with those honored for a virtual display in their communities.
